Rooftop Solar Scheme : As soon as he returned from the consecration ceremony of Ram temple in Ayodhya, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has started a new episode in the service of the public. At this time, he has announced “Pradhanmantri Suryodaya Yojana”. Under this scheme, the government aims to install rooftop solar panels on more than one crore homes, which will help people reduce electricity bills and provide a clean source of energy.

  • Application on Online Portal: Interested people can apply on the government online portal to become a beneficiary of the scheme. Applications can also be made through CSC Centre.
  • Required Document Upload: Applicants have to submit or upload the required documents online.

Procedure for installation of rooftop solar plant through National

  1. Registration : Register at National Portal through the link https://solarrooftop.gov.in Follow the instructions given on the portal for registration.
  2. Apply for Rooftop Solar : After registration, login into the account and click submit application. Fill the information required in the format and submit the application.
  3. Technical Feasibility Approval/TFR : The submitted application will reach directly to the concerned DISCOM for technical feasibility approval. If all the details are correct, the application will be approved. Else, the application may be rejected or returned for correction.
  4. Selection of vendor and plant installation : Upon TFR approval, sign agreement with the selected registered vendor and proceed for installation of the plant. The list of registered vendors is visible in the ‘vendors in my area’ tab in the applicant’s account on National Portal.
  5. Submit Installation Details : After installation of the plant, submit installation details in the National Portal and upload a photo of the applicant with the plant. These details are required for inspection and net-metering of the plant.
  6. Inspection by DISCOM : DISCOM officials will inspect the system in accordance with the technical criterion prescribed by MNRE. Upon successful inspection, net-meter would be installed by the DISCOM.
  7. Project commissioning status : Once the net-meter has been installed, the DISCOM official will approve the installation details on the portal and an online commissioning certificate will be generated. This certificate will be visible in the applicant’s account.
  8. Subsidy/CFA Request : After generation of commissioning certificate, the applicant can raise online subsidy/CFA claim request by providing applicant’s bank details along with legible copy of cancelled bank cheque or pass book.
  9. Subsidy Released : If all details are correct, Central Govt. subsidy/CFA would be released directly into the bank account of the applicant within 30 days of submission of CFA/subsidy claim.

Important Instruction

  • The applicant shall use own mobile number and mail id for registration on National Portal. The applications having mail id/ mobile no. of the vendor would be rejected and such vendors would be blacklisted from further participation in the program/scheme.
  • It shall also be ensured that the electricity connection and bank account is in the name of the applicant, else the application would be rejected.

What is the National Portal (NP)?

MNRE has developed a ‘National Portal (NP)’ for the registration of applications under the simplified procedure. The whole process from submission of application to the release of subsidy/CFA would be implemented in online mode through this portal. The portal can be accessed through the link www.solarrooftop.gov.in

Is there any application fee for applying on NP?

No, there is no application fee for submission for application on national portal. However, there may be fees for net-metering which may be charged by the respective DISCOMs.

Is there any difference in subsidy/CFA in both modes i.e., National Portal or DISCOM empanelled Vendors?

Yes there can be difference in subsidy/CFA. The subsidy/CFA available for the applicant through National Portal is displayed to the applicant during the application stage.

What bank details are required for the release of subsidy through NP?

After receipt of the online commissioning/completion report from DISCOM, the applicant will have to enter following details for claiming subsidy/CFA:
* Name of the beneficiary
* Account number
* Bank Name
* IFS Code
* Copy of cancelled cheque to be uploaded on the portal
